5 Tips to Help Your Children Become Better Students

2 minutes

A student's life is not easy, even if it seems so. It is a long road full of obstacles and tests that can only be overcome through effort and consistency. Some students find studying much harder than others.

The truth is that all students, especially in childhood and adolescence, need their parents' help. Sometimes a small gesture can encourage them to keep striving toward their goals.

Today we want to share these tips that may help them make better use of their studies.

1. Keep them motivated

Ideally, students would motivate themselves to learn and study, but they often find other activities more fun and set studying aside.

As parents, you should therefore make studying a priority and teach them that after finishing homework, they can play or do something else.

2. Do not do their homework for them

Although you may often feel obliged to help with school homework, this is a mistake.

Homework is their responsibility, and they must do it themselves. Afterward, you can help resolve any questions that arose.

3. Create the perfect environment

Creating the perfect environment for comfortable study is easier than it seems. Consider these four key factors and you will achieve it without much effort:

  1. Study in the same place.
  2. Always study at the same time.
  3. Avoid distractions —no mobile devices, toys, or other distractions.
  4. Make sure the chair is comfortable and the study space is cool and pleasant.

4. Manage their time

When children are younger, the important thing is building the habit, so 20 to 25 minutes daily is enough. As they grow, this time will increase depending on homework and exams.

5. Know their strengths

The most important thing is to observe our children, minimize their weaknesses, and strengthen their virtues.

It helps to give them small challenges they can achieve on their own to build confidence.

Tips to avoid stress

To prevent study time from becoming stressful for children and, by extension, the whole family, the psychologist gives us these four tips:

  • Help your child believe in themselves.
  • Learning to think positively is vital. "I can do it" and "I'll do well" are phrases they can repeat to help and encourage themselves.
  • Breathing is very important. You can teach them to breathe deeply and exhale slowly until they feel their lungs empty. This will help them relax.
