How to Create an Article from Scratch in 10 Steps

4 minutes

Writing an article can sometimes seem difficult. Many people are frightened by the idea of having to write one, but it turns out to be very easy once you understand its parts and what needs to be done.

That is why today we want to show you 10 simple steps you can follow to write an article.

1. Research

Before you start writing, you will need to learn about the topic. You have to become an expert to write in your own words without copying anyone, BUT DO NOT BE AFRAID. Start with the basics: make a list of websites and/or books where you think you can find the information you need. Once you have done the research, it is time to start writing your article.

2. Brainstorming

Analyze all the data you obtained through your research, ask yourself questions about the topic, and try to answer them. Make sure to write all this down carefully. Your answers will be very useful when you write the content.

3. Main IDEA

Choose an idea that best describes your chosen topic and keep it in mind throughout writing your article. This MAIN IDEA allows readers to understand where the topic is going and why.

4. Create the basic structure

Outline your article before you begin writing it. You can use a concept map to describe the sections you will write about.

The "skeleton" of an article requires that, once the title is chosen, paragraphs and subheadings be created to make reading comfortable. At this point, you do not need to be 100% clear on how the different parts will be filled in, but you should know how the text is intended to develop.

5. Introduction

Start writing the article, beginning with the introduction. It should be good enough to hook readers and make them keep reading.

It is extremely important to understand that your article's introduction is the reader's first impression of what you have written, so take the time you need to do it correctly.

6. Always focus on the main idea

Every paragraph you write should focus on the main idea. Paragraphs should not be too long, so their essence is not lost and readers do not become bored.

Write as though you were interacting directly with the reader.

7. Conclusion

Use your article's conclusion to summarize everything you have written. Also, is there anything you want the reader to do after reading? This is your opportunity: make it clear in the conclusion.

8. Review the text

Read the final result, edit it, and improve your article's visual presentation.

Rewrite to ensure you have no plagiarized text, check that your writing does not sound redundant, and you can also highlight in bold anything especially important.

You can add lists and even quotations to help readers understand your text.

10. Spelling and grammar

If your article has reached this stage, it has already gone through an extensive process of continual refinement.

This is the final effort, but do not underestimate it. Read your text and check grammar and spelling again and again. This will not only improve your article's quality, but also let you verify that you are conveying your idea appropriately.

Extra tip

Always keep in mind why you chose your article's topic and what you intend to achieve with it. This way, your entire text will make sense and you will hook readers from beginning to end.
