Idea Tu Rumbo: Career Guidance for Your Life

2 minutes

Less than 1% of the Ministry of Health's health care spending goes toward mental health.

This highlights the importance of democratizing access to relevant mental health resources for Guatemalan young people and adults who aspire to become the best version of themselves.

Although many people have learned that guidance starts during the transition from high school to university and ends once a career has been chosen, TuConsejeria believes it goes far beyond this, since career guidance is not a process with a beginning and an end.

Searching for what we are passionate about is an ongoing path of self-exploration, beginning with childhood's earliest questions and curiosities and continuing well into life through decisions such as learning a new language or taking an online course on a new topic.

Its objectives include:

  • Providing objective information about study or work opportunities for anyone seeking to formalize their education or professional development.
  • Offering all participants opportunities for self-knowledge, helping them discover their preferences and aspirations.
  • Talking with others going through the same information-seeking process.
  • Providing access to talks and facilitated workshops.

Idea Tu Rumbo

Idea Tu Rumbo is an annual event that aims to guide anyone searching for a university degree or preparing for the workplace. The event's concept arose from the strong stigma surrounding career guidance and the evident shortage of accessible, useful resources on the topic. Joining forces, TuConsejeria, Clinica IDEA and their partners will launch the event's first edition during the week of November 9–14, 2020.

Through a series of live interviews broadcast on TuConsejeria's Facebook page, the team behind the event recognizes society's misconceptions about career guidance and the considerable underestimation of its impact on personal development.

There will be daily talks and workshops with experts on self-knowledge, mental health, and exploring academic and employment options. People from different organizations will explain the characteristics of various jobs. Participants will also learn about standardized academic and employment tests and have opportunities to attend practical workshops focused on writing essays, preparing a résumé, and telling their story.

As an event that is 100% online, participants can attend live or watch recordings of each talk and workshop for 30 days afterward. They will also have access to downloadable supplementary materials.

Do not miss the chance to be part of this great event! For more information about the schedule and cost, visit TuConsejeria 's social media pages or buy your tickets by clicking here.
